UK School Links

Inspiring Sustainable development

Bhubesi Pride is currently establishing international links between schools in Africa and in the UK. British pupils and staff are invited to contribute to and engage in project preparations and follow expedition progress. With the support of Bhubesi Pride, British and African schools can look forward to building long-term relationships.

Linking UK schools with African schools – Information

  • The expedition will act as a launch pad to develop partnerships with UK schools
  • Teachers at UK link schools will be supplied with easy-to-follow schemes of work detailing interactive class tasks, fundraising challenges and inter-school competitions, to enable pupils to get actively involved in Bhubesi Pride’s school linking programme
  • UK schools will be provided with comprehensive information and contact details of their new African link school
  • UK schools to develop long-standing relationships with their African link school, working on implementing future strategies to improve school facilities and that of the welfare of pupils and staff

UK schools (having established a link) will be able to:

  • Actively contribute to project preparations this year, and follow team progress during the expedition next year (via online updates, Facebook, Twitter, media and press)
  • Benefit from fantastic PR opportunities, being one of only ten British schools linked to Bhubesi Pride’s programme
  • Hold fundraising events to raise money for rugby equipment to be sent (or taken) to their African link school
  • Generate charitable donations for their African link school
  • Improve pupils’ understanding of life and sports provision for children in African countries
  • Inspire their pupils to visit African countries and help charities further (such as United Through Sport and touraid)
  • Bhubesi Pride is considering the logistics of arranging for UK link school pupils and staff to join the expedition team for an agreed period, during the February half-term or Easter holiday [2011]
